Substance use in schools: Working Group
Overview
The group was set up in August 2025 because of growing evidence that substance use is becoming is becoming an increasing concern in schools.
The group will oversee the development of national guidance on substance use in schools, ensuring it aligns with with Scottish Government policies, frameworks and resources. This guidance will help schools:
- respond effectively to concerns
- promote positive relationships
- protect children and young people's wellbeing
It will also signpost people to relevant resources, services and sources of support. Relevant stakeholders will be involved in reviewing and shaping the guidance.
The group will meet monthly until February 2026, with correspondence in between as required.
