Steel Sector Round Table
Steel Sector Round Table was set up in December 2016 and is chaired by the Minister for Business, Fair Work & Skills.
The purpose of the group is to bring together public and private sectors and trades unions, in order to review the issues facing the Scottish steel sector and to determine where best to concentrate efforts to ensure a healthy future for steel in Scotland.
The group meets regularly.
The Scottish Steel Round Table established a Short Life Working Group (SLWG) in order to understand more clearly the environment in which the Scottish steel sector operates. This SLWG commissioned research into the state of the steel sector in Scotland from the WMG Department of the University of Warwick, who have published the Scottish Steel Sector Analysis.
