Patient Safety Commissioner for Scotland Bill: Advisory Group

Overview

Building on the work of the Patient Reference Group and Specialist Reference Group, which advised on the development of the public consultation on proposals for a Patient Safety Commissioner, the Patient Safety Commissioner for Scotland Bill: Advisory Group contributes to the development of draft legislation to establish the office – in particular to a joint Equalities Impact Assessment/Health Inequalities Impact Assessment/Fairer Scotland Duty Assessment.

Outputs from the group’s discussions will provide valuable input throughout the legislative process, although decisions on policy will be taken by the Minister for Public Health, Women’s Health and Sport.

Membership

The group is co-chaired by Donna O’Boyle, Professional Adviser to Chief Medical Officer and Chief Nursing Officer, and Charlie Bethune, patient representative.

Membership has been drawn from the Patient and Specialist Reference Groups with the addition of some further key stakeholders.

Non-patient members will be asked to represent their organisation in serving on this group.
