Mortgage Lending and Cladding: Ministerial Working Group

Overview

The group has concluded its work and published its final report and recommendations on 19 March 2021. Scottish Ministers accepted all the group’s recommendations and are now taking work forward to implement these. This group is no longer active.

Since 2019, people in Scotland have been experiencing difficulties when trying to buy, sell or remortgage properties in buildings with external wall cladding. The people affected are facing difficult circumstances, through no fault of their own and there is a need for action from all sectors to resolve the matter as quickly as possible. The Ministerial Working Group was established with a remit to address  the issues, risks and obstacles involved and to develop solutions.

The group is chaired by the Minister for Local Government, Housing and Planning and comprises members from a range of organisations which have a direct role or influence in resolving the matter.
