Alison Thewliss was appointed as Minister for Community Care in May 2026.

Biography
Alison Thewliss studied Politics and International Relations at the University of Aberdeen.
Ms Thewliss served as a Glasgow City councillor for the Calton ward from 2007 to 2015. She was elected as the MP for Glasgow Central from 2015 to 2024. While at Westminster she was SNP spokesperson for Communities and Local Government, Treasury, and Home Affairs and served on the corresponding Select Committees.
She was elected to the Scottish Parliament in May 2026 as the MSP for Glasgow Central.
Ms Thewliss enjoys spending time with her family, reading, running, and watching Motherwell FC.
