Miriam Craven

Miriam Craven was appointed Director-General Communities in September 2025.

Before her current role, Miriam was the Chief Operating Officer for Social Security Scotland responsible for overseeing the operational performance of the organisation.  Miriam has held various roles in government, including Director for Ukraine Resettlement and setting up Social Security Scotland. 

As Director-General Communities, Miriam provides strategic leadership on fairness and equalities and drives forward the government’s priorities to build strong people-centred public services.
