XL Bully dogs in Scotland
Rules you must follow if you own an XL Bully dog. Includes information on how to apply for an exemption certificate for your XL Bully.
How to apply for an exemption
You can apply for a Certificate of Exemption online on GOV.UK. Online applications will be open until 31 July 2024.
If you cannot apply online, you can download and fill in a paper application. You must send this to us by 15 July 2024. Post it to:
XL Bully Dog Exemption Team
Room GW15
Scottish Government
St Andrew’s House
2 Regent Road
Edinburgh EH1 3DG
Whilst we will try to process applications within a few days, it may take up to a few weeks. If you apply shortly before the closing date, you may not receive your Certificate of Exemption by 1 August 2024. If this happens and the authorities ask to see your certificate, you can show them proof that you applied.
If you need help with your application
Email xlbullydogenquiries@gov.scot with:
-
your full name
-
your postcode
-
the name of your dog
If you have more than one dog, you must apply and pay the fee for each dog separately.
