Shetland Islands Regional Marine Plan: summary of representations and modifications report

This modifications report accompanies the Shetland Islands Regional Marine Plan. It provides a summary of the representations made to the draft plan at consultation stage, and explains the changes made to policy and text before adopting the plan.

Introduction

Schedule 1 of the Marine (Scotland) Act 2010 sets out the requirement for Scottish Ministers that, when choosing to adopting a regional marine plan, they must publish statements setting out any modifications that have been made to the proposals published in the consultation draft for the plan and the reasons for those modifications.

This report has been prepared on Scottish Minister behalf by the Shetland Islands Marine Planning Partnership (SIMPP) as part of their function as a delegated authority, and relates to the published Shetland Islands Regional Marine Plan (SIRMP).

The SIRMP undertook consultation in 2019. Since then, SIMPP have worked alongside officials in the Scottish Government to develop a full, final plan that has now been published following the approval of Scottish Ministers.

The report sets out each of the suggested policy and non-policy changes and comments made through representations to the SIRMP consultation on a draft plan, explains the rationale for changes and demonstrates how the final SIRMP has been developed.

The full report is available to read from the supporting documents section as a downloadable PDF.
