Social Care and Social Work Improvement Scotland (Cancellation of Registration) Order 2026: final business and regulatory impact assessment

Introduction

1. The Scottish Government is proposing to lay the Social Care and Social Work Improvement Scotland (Cancellation of Registration) Order 2026 (“the Order”), made under section 64(1A)(b) of the Public Services Reform (Scotland) Act 2010 (“the 2010 Act”), which was inserted by section 22 of the Care Reform (Scotland) Act 2025.

2. This is the final Business and Regulatory Impact Assessment (BRIA) prepared to help inform the Scottish Government’s policy development in relation to the SSI.

3. The Scottish Government published a BRIA as part of ‘A National Care Service for Scotland’ consultation, which this BRIA builds upon.
