Actions arising from meeting 15:

Switching crime statistics from ScOMIS to SEBP

With Crime Board having approved the change in source, Justice Analytical Services to publish the Recorded Crime in Scotland, 2020-21 National Statistics using data from SEBP, and publish an associated technical report and updated revisions policy.

Outcome:

  • the 2020-21 National Statistics will be published on 28th September 2021 and this action will be taken forward as part of that process

Amendments to the SCRS

Police Scotland and Justice Analytical Services to publish the 2020-21 SCRS manual, following approval of changes from Board members.

Outcome:

  • action pending. Police Scotland and Justice Analytical Services are working together to produce a copy of the SCRS manual which meets public sector accessibility guidelines

Recorded crime strategy and consultation

Sub-group to take forward the development of a strategy and associated project plan for recorded crime statistics and associated consultation with users. Board members to indicate if they or others in their organisation would like to join the sub-group.

Outcome:

  • action complete. An update was provided on the work of the sub-group at the July 2021 meeting of the Board

Police Scotland internal crime audit

Board members to provide Police Scotland’s Crime Registrars with feedback on potential crime types to audit by May 2021.

Outcome:

  • action complete. Feedback was requested from Board members and Police Scotland provided an update on plans for their audit at the July 2021 meeting of the Board
