Scotland's Population Health Framework: Equality Impact Assessment
A Equality Impact Assessment (EQIA) for the Population Health Framework.
Executive summary
This Equalities Impact Assessment provides an overarching account of the current state of health inequalities across various protected groups to support the development and delivery of Scotland’s Population Health Framework.
The Framework, which prioritises prevention at a population level, is designed to address the root causes of health inequalities and reduce the burden of preventable diseases by recognising that these are as a result of a range of social, economic and environmental factors and targeted intervention aimed at those most in need is required to alleviate these.
While this initial assessment highlights the overarching approach to prevention, further impact assessments will be developed as appropriate for individual actions as the Framework is implemented. This iterative process will ensure that the delivery of the Framework takes into account specific needs and challenges faced by different protected groups.
