Public appointment: Members reappointed to the Fife NHS Board

The Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care, Neil Gray MSP, today announced the reappointment of Anne Haston and Colin Grieve as Members of the Fife NHS Board.

Members

Anne Haston is a general dental practitioner with 18 years’ experience in delivering NHS care. From Fife originally, she has lived and worked across Glasgow, Lanarkshire and West Lothian. She has a wealth of experience in treating patients from a wide variety of backgrounds and settings and is proud to be an active volunteer in her local community.  Anne has been a Non-Executive Director for NHS Fife for the past 4 years and is currently the Chair of the Clinical Governance Committee, a contributing member of the Audit and Risk Committee and is the Board’s Sustainability Champion. Anne hopes to continue to bring to the Board a strong focus on patient-centred initiatives and will aim to continue be a link between front-line delivery of care and Board-level strategic decisions.

Colin Grieve has significant people, change and risk management experience, coupled with planning and implementation skills, gained during over 30 years of Public service, within the Fire and Rescue Service, where he retired as the Area Commander (Local Senior Officer) of Tayside. He brings a wealth of experience in developing partnerships to benefit the wider population, and is a firm believer in the wider benefits of good health outcomes across non health public services and the wider societal benefits it brings. Colin currently chairs the Staff Governance committee in Fife and is the Reform and Transformation Champion for the Board, as well as being a Health representative, and the Vice Chair, on the Fife Integration Joint Board. 

Reappointments

Anne Haston’s reappointment will be for 4 years and will run from 1 August 2026 to 31 July 2030. Colin Grieve’s reappointment will be for 4 years and will run from 1 October 2026 to 30 September 2030.

The reappointments are regulated by the Ethical Standards Commissioner.

Remuneration

The reappointments are part-time and attracts a remuneration of£16,224 for a time commitment of 52 days per year.

Other ministerial appointments

Anne Haston and Colin Grieve do not hold any other public appointments.

Political activity

All appointments are made on merit and political activity plays no part in the selection process.  However, in accordance with the original Nolan recommendations, there is a requirement for appointees’ political activity within the last five years (if there is any to be declared) to be made public.   

Anne Haston and Colin Grieve have had no political activity within the last five years.

NHS Fife is one of 14 territorial NHS Boards in Scotland. The organisation provides healthcare to a population of more than 370,000 and currently employs around 8,700 staff. Across a large rural area with varied geography and several centres of population, NHS Fife is tasked with delivering high quality person-centred care whilst improving the overall health and wellbeing of the people of Fife. NHS Fife works closely with local population, patients, staff and colleagues within the Health and Social Care Partnership and a Joint Integration Board and third sector to ensure local needs are met for the community
