Public appointment: Members reappointed to Dumfries and Galloway NHS Board

The Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care, Neil Gray MSP today announced the reappointments of Kim Dams and Greg Black as Members of Dumfries and Galloway NHS Board.

Members

Kim Dams has worked and volunteered in different roles across the third, public and private sector for years, and has a strong background in business, finance, risk, strategy, compliance, and human rights, community engagement, social justice, inclusion, disability and equality, with a passion for intersectionality. In her day job, she is the CEO of DG Voice, a Disabled People’s Organisation representing disabled people across Dumfries and Galloway. As part of her role as a board member of the local NHS board, she is the current chair of the Integration Joint board in Dumfries and Galloway. She is also a Commissioner of the Poverty and Inequality Commission. In her volunteering capacity, Kim is on the board of the Poverty Alliance and a board member and the Convenor of Inclusion Scotland.

Greg Black has a background in scientific research as well as roles in the NHS and nuclear industry. Greg brings strong analytical and scrutiny skills to his board member role and is keen to support the local staff and patients of the NHS to achieve the best outcomes possible. Greg is a firm believer in the strengths of the NHS and looks forward to supporting NHS Dumfries and Galloway on its journey as it seeks to adapt and achieve a sustainable model of delivery for now and into the future.

Reappointment

The reappointments will be for 4 years and will run from 1 November 2025 to 31 October 2029.

The reappointments are regulated by the Ethical Standards Commissioner.

Remuneration

The reappointments are part-time and attract a remuneration of £14,352 per year for a time commitment of 1 day per week.

Other ministerial appointments

Kim Dams is a Commissioner of the Poverty and Inequality Commission, for which she receives remuneration of £236 per day, for a time commitment of 1 day per month.

Greg Black does not hold any other public appointments.

Political activity

All appointments are made on merit and political activity plays no part in the selection process.  However, in accordance with the original Nolan recommendations, there is a requirement for appointees’ political activity within the last five years (if there is any to be declared) to be made public.   

Kim Dams was an office bearer and local branch member of the SNP in the last 5 years.

Greg Black has had no political activity within the last five years.

NHS Dumfries & Galloway is responsible for meeting the health needs of the 150,000 people living in the region and works with partner organisations to provide a comprehensive range of primary, community-based and acute hospital services tailored for the whole population.
