Public appointment: Members appointed to Greater Glasgow and Clyde NHS Board

The Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care, Neil Gray MSP today announced the appointment of Giovanni D’Alessio and Jamie Kinlochan as Members of the Greater Glasgow and Clyde NHS Board.

Members

Giovanni D’Alessio is an IT professional with over 25 years industry experience. He spent his early career as a management consultant – initially in the USA, before relocating to the UK. He has worked in a variety of industries, including retail, manufacturing, telecoms and energy. Giovanni has been a member of the Board of the Ecology Building Society since 2022 and brings a wealth of knowledge and skills in technology, digital transformation and cyber security. He was previously the CEO of Doosan Digital Innovation Europe, a company delivering digital and cyber security services, from 2014 until March 2025. He is also a non-executive adviser for Forestry and Land Scotland.

Jamie Kinlochan is a counsellor and founder of Hopeful Spaces, a community-based therapy service in Paisley, focused on making counselling accessible at the point of need. He holds a master’s degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy from the University of Strathclyde. Jamie received a British Empire Medal (BEM) in the New Year’s Honours for his work during the COVID-19 pandemic and is an alumnus of the US State Department’s International Visitor Leadership Program. He has served on the boards of SAMH and Amma Birth Companions and is currently a member of the Scotland Committee at Shelter. He brings governance experience across national and community organisations, alongside expert insight in mental health and community engagement, with a focus on accessibility, dignity, and person-centred care.

Appointment

Both appointments will be for 4 years. Jamie Kinlochan’s appointment will run from 25 August 2025 to 24 August 2029 and Giovanni D’Alessio’s appointment will run from 18 August 2025 to 17 August 2029.

These appointments are regulated by the Ethical Standards Commissioner.

Remuneration

These appointments are part-time and attract a remuneration of £14,352 per year for a time commitment of 52 days per year.

Other ministerial appointments

Giovanni D’Alessio and Jamie Kinlochan do not hold any other ministerial public appointments.

Political activity

All appointments are made on merit and political activity plays no part in the selection process.  However, in accordance with the original Nolan recommendations, there is a requirement for appointees’ political activity within the last five years (if there is any to be declared) to be made public.   

Giovanni D’Alessio and Jamie Kinlochan have had no political activity within the last five years.

Background

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is the largest health system in Scotland and one of the largest in the UK.  It is responsible for meeting the health needs of around 1.14m people living in the area and provides a comprehensive range of community and hospital based services for the population.
