Public appointment: Member reappointed to NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde Board

The Cabinet Secretary for Health and Care today announced the reappointment of David Gould as a Member of the NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde Board.

 

Member

Having trained with Price Waterhouse to become a Chartered Accountant, David Gould has devoted his career to working in the public sector. He occupied Finance and Corporate Services roles within Scottish Enterprise and NHS 24 during its key start-up and roll-out phase, before being appointed as Head of Corporate Services for Glasgow City Marketing Bureau, where he was responsible for the successful delivery of Governance, Finance, HR, Legal, IT and Risk Management functions. During this time, he worked on a number of major city events including the 2014 Commonwealth Games, BBC Radio 1 Big Weekend and the MTV European Music Awards. David has held Non-Executive positions within Registers of Scotland and Forestry Commission Scotland and is currently a Non-Executive Director for a digital and print publisher, Go Far Enterprises Limited. He brings a breadth and depth of knowledge of system start up, organisational change management, corporate governance, performance management and believes that success within an organisation is built upon demonstrably valuing its people and the people it serves.

 

Reappointment

This reappointment will be for 4 years and will run from 1 February 2026 to 31 January 2030.

This reappointment is regulated by the Ethical Standards Commissioner.

 

Remuneration

This reappointment is part-time and attracts a remuneration of £312 per day for a time commitment of 52 days per year.

David does not hold any other public appointments.

 

Political activity

All appointments are made on merit and political activity plays no part in the selection process.  However, in accordance with the original Nolan recommendations, there is a requirement for appointees’ political activity within the last five years (if there is any to be declared) to be made public.   

David has had no political activity within the last five years.

 

Background

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is the largest health system in Scotland and one of the largest in the UK.  It is responsible for meeting the health needs of around 1.14m people living in the area and provides a comprehensive range of community and hospital based services for the population.
