The Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care, Neil Gray MSP, today announced the reappointment of Arlene Wood as a Member of Fife NHS Board.

Members

Arlene Wood has 42 years’ dedicated service in the NHS and four years’ experience as a non-executive director. She brings a strong approach to good governance and has a proven ability to adapt and apply the transferrable skills gained throughout her career across a diverse range of services and specialities.  Arlene contributes effectively to strategy development and oversight of delivery to transform and improve care to service users and organisational performance. She has a track record of successful change management and ability to initiate, systematically plan, prioritise, and manage projects effectively which enables her to support, challenge and seek proportionate assurances in order for the Board to deliver safe, effective and sustainable services.  As an effective Board member and committee chair Arlene prides herself in fostering productive and collaborative relationships in driving strategic initiatives and improvements in operational performance and governance. 

Reappointment

This reappointment will be for 4 years and will run from 13 September 2025 to 12 September 2029.

This reappointment is regulated by the Ethical Standards Commissioner.

Remuneration

This reappointment is part-time and attracts a remuneration of £14,352 for a time commitment of 52 days per year.

Political activity

All appointments are made on merit and political activity plays no part in the selection process.  However, in accordance with the original Nolan recommendations, there is a requirement for appointees’ political activity within the last five years (if there is any to be declared) to be made public.   

Arlene Wood have had no political activity within the last five years.

Background

NHS Fife is one of 14 territorial NHS Boards in Scotland. The organisation provides healthcare to a population of more than 370,000 and currently employs around 8,700 staff. Across a large rural area with varied geography and several centres of population, NHS Fife is tasked with delivering high quality person-centred care whilst improving the overall health and wellbeing of the people of Fife. NHS Fife works closely with local population, patients, staff and colleagues within the Health and Social Care Partnership and a Joint Integration Board and third sector to ensure local needs are met for the community.
