Public appointment: Member appointment extended on the NHS Ayrshire and Arran Board

The Cabinet Secretary for Health & Care Angela Constance MSP, today announced the extension to the appointment of Linda Semple as a Member of the NHS Ayrshire and Arran Board.

Member

Linda Semple has worked for NHS Scotland for 30 years, starting as a Committee Secretary, working in public health, health economics, health intelligence, performance management, planning and improvement in Edinburgh, Ayrshire and for the Scottish Government. Since retirement, she has been a Non-Executive Director for both NHS Ayrshire and Arran and NHS Golden Jubilee, serving as Vice-Chair for both boards. She also chaired South Ayrshire Integrated Joint Board for three years.

Extension

This extension will run from 1 September 2026 to 30 November 2026.

This extension is regulated by the Ethical Standards Commissioner.

Remuneration

This extension is part-time and attracts a remuneration of £312 per day for a time commitment of 52 days per year.

Political activity

All appointments are made on merit and political activity plays no part in the selection process.  However, in accordance with the original Nolan recommendations, there is a requirement for appointees’ political activity within the last five years (if there is any to be declared) to be made public. 

Linda Semple has had no political activity within the last five years.
