Public appointment: Member appointed to Fife NHS Board

The Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care, Neil Gray MSP, today announced the appointment of Ms Jo Bennett as a Member of the Fife NHS Board.

Member

Jo Bennett’s experience includes a variety of roles in the health and voluntary sector in Scotland.  She has been involved in designing, initiating and evaluating a wide range of services across Scotland, working in partnership with voluntary and statutory sectors to improve patient and service user experience and care outcomes. She has a background in improvement science and health and care governance.

Appointment

This appointment will be for four years and will run from 1 July 2024 to 30 June 2028.

This appointment is regulated by the Ethical Standards Commissioner.

Remuneration

This appointment is part-time and attracts a remuneration of £18,060 per annum for a time commitment of two days per week.

Jo Bennett does not hold any other public appointments.

Political activity

All appointments are made on merit and political activity plays no part in the selection process.  However, in accordance with the original Nolan recommendations, there is a requirement for appointees’ political activity within the last five years (if there is any to be declared) to be made public.   

Jo Bennett has had no political activity within the last five years.

Background

NHS Fife is one of 14 territorial NHS Boards in Scotland. The organisation provides healthcare to a population of more than 370,000 and currently employs around 8,700 staff. Across a large rural area with varied geography and several centres of population, NHS Fife is tasked with delivering high quality person-centred care whilst improving the overall health and wellbeing of the people of Fife. NHS Fife works closely with local population, patients, staff and colleagues within the Health and Social Care Partnership and a Joint Integration Board and third sector to ensure local needs are met for the community.
