The Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care, Humza Yousaf MSP today announced an extension to the appointment of Laura Douglas as a Member of Dumfries & Galloway NHS Board.
Member
Laura Douglas has been a member of Dumfries & Galloway NHS Board since June 2014 and has served as a member and Chair of key governance committees throughout her tenure.
Laura has been the Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee since October 2017 where she has led a strengthened approach to assurance for the Board. In April 2021, Laura was appointed as Chair of the Integration Joint Board. Laura also represents NHS Dumfries & Galloway on the Developing the Young Workforce Regional Board, where she currently holds the position of Chair.
Laura, has a background in innovation management, brings external perspective and analytical thinking to the business of the Board and provides constructive challenge and scrutiny on the aims, objectives, standards and targets for NHS Dumfries & Galloway.
Extension
This extension will be for 11 months and will run from 2nd June 2022 to 1st May 2023.
This extension is regulated by the Ethical Standards Commissioner.
Remuneration
This extension is part-time and attracts a remuneration of £8,842 per annum for a time commitment of one day per week.

Political activity
All appointments are made on merit and political activity plays no part in the selection process. However, in accordance with the original Nolan recommendations, there is a requirement for appointees’ political activity within the last five years (if there is any to be declared) to be made public.
Laura Douglas has had no political activity within the last five years.

NHS Dumfries & Galloway is responsible for meeting the health needs of over 150,000 people living in the region, and works with partner organisations to provide a comprehensive range of primary, community-based and acute hospital services tailored for the whole population.
