The Minister for Social Care, Mental Wellbeing and Sport, Ms Todd, today announced the appointment of Maureen Campbell as Chair of sportscotland.
Sports Minister Maree Todd said: “I am delighted to announce the appointment of Maureen Campbell OBE as Chair of sportscotland.
“Maureen is someone who has demonstrated a lifelong passion for sport and brings a wealth experience across many aspects of sport and public life to this role.
“Maureen’s experience as Vice-Chair of sportscotland will ensure a continued focus on the positive impact sport and physical activity can have across Scotland and I look forward to working with Maureen to break down the barriers to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to be active.”
Chair
Maureen Campbell has been a key leader in the sports sector for many years. she has held senior leadership positions at a local level and us former Chair of Scottish Swimming and former Vice Chair of Commonwealth Games Scotland. Maureen has exceptional knowledge and understanding of the impact and value of sport. She has worked closely with partners to develop all aspects of the sporting pathway. A sportscotland board member since 2019 and Chair of the sportscotland Trust Company since 2022. Maureen is also chair of Scottish Canals.
Appointment
This appointment will be for four years and will run from 1 June 2024 to 31 May 2028.
This appointment is regulated by the Ethical Standards Commissioner.
Remuneration
This appointment is part-time and attracts a remuneration of £254.84 per day for a time commitment of 78 days per annum.
Other ministerial appointments
Maureen Campbell is Chair of Scottish Canals for which she receives remuneration of £335 per day per day, for a time commitment of 42 days per annum.
Political activity
All appointments are made on merit and political activity plays no part in the selection process. However, in accordance with the original Nolan recommendations, there is a requirement for appointees’ political activity within the last five years (if there is any to be declared) to be made public.
Maureen Campbell has had no political activity within the last five years.
