Police Negotiating Board for Scotland: circular 2025-05 - islands allowance and island expenses

Memorandum

The Official and Staff Sides of the PNBS have reached agreement on the terms for Islands Allowance and Island Expenses.

The terms under which these shall be paid are as follows:

• With regards to Islands Allowance, an officer who is entitled to receive the allowance will continue to receive this whilst suspended from duty on full pay.
• With regards to Island Expenses, an officer who is posted to, and who lives on an island, can claim the cost of three return trips to the mainland per year, subject to conditions to be determined by the chief constable.
• This will apply to an officer’s dependant and can include situations where the officer’s dependant travels to meet the officer on the island.
