Pandemic personal protective equipment (PPE) future supply: lessons learned

Identifies the successes, challenges and lessons to be learned relating to PPE supply during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Background and purpose

In response to Audit Scotland’s report COVID-19: Personal protective equipment  (June 2021), the Scottish Government worked to identify the successes, challenges and lessons to be learned relating to PPE supply during the COVID-19 pandemic. This work has informed the development and implementation of the future pandemic PPE supply arrangements, in order to secure a resilient and robust supply of PPE for the future.

Part 1 outlines:

  • existing work that has been completed to understand the lessons to be learned
  • new supply arrangements that we will implement in response
  • results of the lessons learned elements of the written consultation

Part 2 more specifically details how the key lessons learned identified have been addressed, and the work currently underway to further progress them.
