Private Sale inspections 

These are the number of inspections carried out at processors premises.  These include fish which has been transported direct from a vessel i.e. not been sold at an auction site.

Engine verifcation inspections

These are inspections of vessels engine power to check against registered power.  This ensures the fleet capacity relating to engine power does not increase.

Razor clam inspections  

Razor clams are fished using electric currents passed into the seabed from a vessel.  This method of fishing is prohibited under the Razor Clams (Prohibitiion of Landing)(Scotland) Order 2017, except by vessels licensed to use the method as part of a scientific trial authorised by Scottish Ministers.  Vessels taking part in this trial are required to meet strict conditions.  These inspections check for compliance with these conditions.

Wrasse inspections

Wild wrasse are used as cleaner fish in the aquaculture industry.  Fishing wrasse is prohibited by a licence condition except for a limited number of vessels which have a derogation.  Vessels derogated to fish for wrasse have to comply with strict conditions, these inspections check for compliance with these conditions.
