Letter of resignation: Dr Alasdair Allan MSP to First Minister

Letter from Acting Minister for Climate Action Dr Alasdair Allan to First Minister John Swinney.

Dear John,

It has been a pleasure to be a part of the government for the past year as Acting Minister for Climate Action and to have had the opportunity to serve as a Minister under your leadership.

In particular, I am proud of the work we have progressed over the past year to develop the Heat in Buildings Bill and work on Scotland’s plans for net zero.

However, as I said to you on my appointment, I was honoured to be asked to take this interim role, but that I only wanted it to be for the period of cover for Gillian Martin, as she also took over her interim role, and would want to return to backbenches after that.

Therefore, I am formally resigning my role as Minister from the end of this week. I look forward to supporting your government from the backbenches, as well as spending more time in my constituency of Na h-Eileanan an Iar.

Yours for Scotland,

Alasdair Allan
