Items and actions

Minister for Housing opened the sixth meeting of the Taskforce and thanked members for their time and contribution.  Introduced Kate Forbes MSP, Deputy First Minister and Cabinet Secretary for Economy and Gaelic to the meeting. 

DFM thanked Taskforce members for their work stressing the importance of the Taskforce and that success of the delivery of Scottish Government’s four key objectives is reliant upon the success of investment into housing in Scotland. 

Summary note of last meeting agreed for publication

Draft Report 

Members discussed the draft report that had been developed drawing on workstream conclusions and priority areas identified, and reflected on the work of the Taskforce over the year and areas drawn out for future action. Agreed that the Report would be submitted to Ministers by end of March.

The potential of the positive and constructive input of the Taskforce to continue, with clear communications on the potential for growth in housing investment in Scotland discussed.

Housing Bill – Rent Control – timeline  

Update provided on the timeline for or the Housing Bill stage 2 amendments impacting on Rent Control and upcoming consultation on potential exemptions. 

Next Steps

  • Members to consider future involvement in moving the recommendations in the Taskforce report to implementation.  
  • Final Taskforce report, Scottish Government’s initial response and Professor Ken Gibb’s report to be published in due course with Taskforce members to be kept up to date on plans.
