Housing Investment Taskforce minutes: 12 February 2026

Minutes from the meeting of the Housing Investment Taskforce on 12 February 2026.

Items and actions

The meeting was chaired by the Cabinet Secretary for Housing, who welcomed members and thanked them for their ongoing support and input since publication of their report in June 2025, which has provided an important impetus for subsequent action across Government.

The main topic under discussion was the announcement made in January by the First Minister and Cabinet Secretary for Housing, signalling the creation of a new National Housing Agency - “More Homes Scotland”.

Other topics included reflection of the Taskforce members’ input to Rent Control Exemptions regulations which have now been laid in Parliament, and recent progress made against the Taskforce’s recommendations.

This being the final meeting of the Housing Investment Taskforce before the Scottish Parliamentary election, the Cabinet Secretary thanked members for their time and expertise, and sought views on the future role of the Taskforce. Members noted that they had seen tangible progress arising from their input and are content to continue their role in the Taskforce, subject to the requirements of any incoming Government.

Meeting closed.
