Items and actions

The Chair welcomed attendees and noted apologies. Actions from the previous meeting were discussed and minutes from the previous meeting agreed.  

Scottish Government and UK Government provided an update on activity since the previous meeting of the GFIB Programme Board. The Scottish Government highlighted an additional £5 million investment to Celtic Renewables, and £90,000 funding to Forth Valley College, in collaboration with Falkirk Council, to deliver the Future Skills: Pathways to Employment Programme for Grangemouth residents.  

Scottish Enterprise marked the one-year anniversary of Project Willow and highlighted progress made in the past year. This included an update on the Grangemouth Investment Taskforce which is leading work to identify and attract entities with an interest in progressing the proposals outlined in Project Willow and any other viable opportunities across the industrial cluster.  

MiAlgae gave a presentation on progress made thus far at the new Grangemouth site as a result of £1.5 million funding from the Scottish Government’s Grangemouth Just Transition Fund and £1.5 million funding by the UK Government. 

Scottish Enterprise then provided an update on the Innovation Workstream, ensuring alignment to the Grangemouth Industrial Cluster Strategy and the Grangemouth Just Transition Plan. 

The Chemical Industries Association gave a presentation on the Chemical Industries Association manifesto.  

An update on Cluster, Strategy and Infrastructure followed. Skills Development Scotland then provided an update on Jobs and Skills, including initiatives to support skills transition and workforce development and highlighting the Future Skills: Pathways to Employment programme.  

CVS Falkirk presented an update on ongoing community work in relation to the Community Engagement workstream of GFIB.  

Lastly, Scottish Enterprise provided an update on Communications and Investor Outreach.  

Open discussion on jobs, implications of other recent industrial closures, workforce and related projects took place throughout. 

The Chair thanked participants for their contributions to the discussion and closed the meeting.
