GP funding correspondence: FOI release

Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002.


Information requested

Any correspondence (including emails, letters, phone calls, handwritten notes, WhatsApp messages or any other documents) between the BMA Scotland/BMA Scottish general practitioners committee and/or Scottish Government ministers and/or special advisers regarding Global sum payments. Information should include but not be limited to: a detailed timeline (with dates) of any contact between ministers/special advisers and the BMA ; any notes or comments or suggestions offered by ministers or special advisers to the BMA; any advice or comments from ministers/spads suggested to BMA; any directions issued by ministers/spads on actions the BMA should take. Please provide this information between the dates of 8 June 2022 and 8 June 2023 inclusive.

Response

Scottish Government Ministers and special advisors did not communicate with the BMA or Scottish GP Committee between 8 June 2022 and 8 June 2023 regarding global sum payments.

Scottish Government officials meet regularly with BMA officials and the Scottish GP Committee and discussed the contents of circular PCA2023(M)01.
