Response

1. News release dated 15 January 2026 titled After school clubs expansion - gov.scot

2. Attachment A –Extra Time Phase 4 (2026-2027) Funding Allocation Table

3. Additional context provided within the response below on the figures quoted in Attachment A, as an explanation for differences that may not have been expected or noted previously.

In 2026-27, as set out in the Scottish Budget, we are continuing to invest £5.5 million in our Extra Time programme, in partnership with the Scottish Football Association. The £2.5 million wider activities investment as set out in the Scottish Budget will also support the expansion of some Extra Time services who have capacity to expand their delivery to more families; and it will help to expand delivery for a number of the newer clubs who joined the Programme last year, who had an output to provide term-time only provision. This investment will therefore support them to move to delivering both termtime and holiday provision as well as maintaining existing levels of delivery (where this may be required - subject to frequent grant and budget monitoring procedures) to ensure those families already accessing the provision are not displaced.

Funding for the Extra Time Programme is issued from the Scottish Government to the Scottish Football Association (SFA). The SFA have responsibility for the awarding of funding to clubs. Information on full distribution of funds related to the Extra Time programme is held by the SFA.
