Details of meetings between Scottish Government and private sector hearing care providers: FOI release

With reference to the comment made on page 3 of the following summary, can you confirm
1. The dates that the two meetings with private sector hearing care providers took place.
2. The names of the participants for both the private sector and the Scottish Government.
3. Provide meeting notes or other supporting material that records the details of the discussion that took place at these meetings along with any commitments to further meetings and actions to be taken forward from these meetings.

Response

While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance the Scottish Government under section 17(1) of FOISA does not have some of the information you have requested. This is because the Scottish Government did not host or arrange these two meetings, and no Scottish Government Ministers or officials were in attendance.

From the information included in the report from CPG on Deafness, we can however answer question 1 of your request as to the dates of the two meetings, which are listed below:

• Scottish Parliament, Let Scotland be Heard: Tackling Hearing Loss, sponsored by Sandesh Gulhane MSP on behalf of Specsavers (7 November 2024);
• Roundtable at Scottish Parliament hosted by Jackie Baillie MSP on behalf of Specsavers, Overcoming the barriers to community audiology (6 November 2025).
