Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002.
Information requested
1) The number of MAPs working in each NHS board for the periods March 2026, March 2025 and March 2024 or at the nearest equivalent date, broken down by health board.
2) This information broken down by role, including but not limited to Physician Associates/Assistants (PAs), Anaesthesia Associates (AAs), Surgical Care Practitioners (SCPs), and Advanced Critical Care Practitioners (ACCPs).

The Turas Data Intelligence site includes Medical Associate Professional (MAP) data by job role and by NHS Board for March 2024 and March 2025. The March 2026 data is scheduled for publication on 2 June 2026, and will be available on the same website once published. Medical Associate Profession sub–job families were added to the Medical and Dental Support job family in March 2024.
