Information requested

All agendas and minutes of the Scottish Cosmetic Interventions Expert Group (SCIEG) from its formation to the date of this request.

Response

  • SCIEG was first established as a time-limited group (January 2014-February 2015) to explore the need for introducing regulation to cosmetic procedures in Scotland following the publication of the Keogh Review in 2013. This is referred to as Phase One.
  • Between 2017 and 2022 SCIEG members met to review the regulation of non-surgical cosmetic procedures. This is referred to as Phase Two.
  • SCIEG was formally reconvened in November 2023 following analysis of the Scottish Government’s 2020 consultation on the regulation of non-surgical cosmetic procedures. This is referred to as the current SCIEG. It last convened in May 2025.

  • All other meeting minutes are provided in Appendix C.
  • The following redactions under FOISA Section 38(1)(b) have been made: the names of Scottish Government officials under Senior Civil Service (SCS) grade as per corporate policy and the names of external attendees in non-senior roles and where consent to publish SCIEG membership is not in place.
