Information requested
You asked for any emails, letters, or other written correspondence sent by members of the public (constituents or non-constituents) to the former First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon, or to her private office (nicolasturgeon.msp@parliament.scot or firstminister@gov.scot) between 1 January 2018 and 20th December 25th 2025 that contain one or more of the following phrases or substantial variations:
- “Pakistani grooming gang(s)”
- “Pakistani rape gang(s)”
- “Asian grooming gang(s)”
- “Asian rape gang(s)”
- CSE, child sexual abuse, prostitution, child trafficking or any other variations
Response
I enclose a copy of some of the information you requested.
While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance we are unable to provide some of the information you have requested because exemptions under section(s) s.38(1)(b) (personal information) of FOISA applies to that information. This exemption relates to personal information and specifically the person data of third parties. This applies in this case as the information you have requested includes detailed data of third parties, including contact details. This exemption is not subject to the 'public interest test', so we are not required to consider if the public interest in disclosing the information outweighs the public interest in applying the exemption.
