Please note, as no date parameters were specified in your request, we have assumed the applicable period to be the month immediately preceding the request date, from 22 November 2025 to 22 December 2025 inclusive.

Transport Scotland's Operating Company for the A78 trunk road, Amey, advise that route inspections are carried out every Tuesday and Friday from Dutch House roundabout to Skelmorlie.

Please see Annex A to this response for details of inspections in respect of the A78 trunk road for the period 22 November 2025 to 22 December 2025.

Transport Scotland’s Operating Companies and DBFO contractors carry out a range of inspections and surveys to assess the condition and performance of the trunk road network. For example, safety inspections are undertaken at seven-day intervals. These inspections are primarily intended to identify defects that require prompt attention because they present, or could present, an immediate hazard to road users.

All cyclical maintenance activities are programmed by the requirements of the Trunk Road Information Manual. Please see Annex B to this response for a copy of the current Trunk Road Information Manual.
