Documentation relating to the early retirement of the Chief Executive of NHS Fife: FOI release

Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002.

Information requested

All information, correspondence and documents relating to the early retirement of Chief Executive of NHS Fife Carol Potter.

Please state when the Scottish Government was informed of Ms Potter's retirement.

Include any correspondence between Scottish Government officials, Health Secretary Neil Gray, Ms Potter and NHS Fife.

Response

I enclose a copy of most of the information you requested.

While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance we are unable to provide some of the information you have requested because an exemption under section 38(1)(b) (Personal Information of a third party) of FOISA applies to that information. Employee names, email addresses and phone numbers have been redacted where appropriate.

Scottish Government received formal notification of Ms Potter's decision to retire on 12 November, however, I can confirm that both our Chief People Officer, Fiona Hogg, and our Director General of Health & Social Care and Chief Executive of NHS Scotland, Caroline Lamb, had informal conversations with Ms Potter on 11 November and the news was shared at that stage.
