Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002
Information requested
In your recent request you asked for “all communication related to the part funding provided to produce the brochure investing in communities in any area in Edinburgh October 2025 edition only, including all receipts, emails, maps only related to production of the printed A5 edition of any area in Edinburgh October 2025 edition only.”
Further clarification was requested from yourself on 18 November and we have taken your request to relate to the “My Magdalene” brochure.
Response
The Community Renewal Trust applied to the Investing in Communities Fund (ICF) in June 2022 to request funding for the delivery of the “Our Neighbourhood: A new hyperlocal Community Wealth Building partnership” project of which the production of the “My Magdalene” brochure formed a small part of the activities to be delivered.
The only section of the Community Renewal Trust application within the scope of your request is where it states that it will work with partners “To ensure the project is deeply connected to all the community members and it is accessible to all and we will fund the creation, printing and distribution of community publications by volunteers of resident-led Bingham News Group.”
ICF contributes a small amount of funding to cover printing and distribution costs of the publication of the brochure only. The brochure is created for and by the community and we do not have any oversight of its content or cover any costs relating to the sourcing of the material used.
As the ICF does not provide funding for the content of the brochure we do not collect or hold any information including receipts, emails or maps that relate to the content. We do not routinely collect invoices relating to the office costs for the printing and distribution of the brochure, and to date no funding has been claimed for the October 2025 edition.
