Transport Scotland M90 - Inverkeithing to Perth - Road works for last 5 years: FOI release

"We would like to request details of how many stages of roadworks have taken place on the M90 from Inverkeithing to Perth over the last five years, and which parts of the road these were?

We would also like details of the cost of these set of roadworks, including the overall cost, during this time?

We are requesting these details through Freedom of Information"

On 8 October 2025 you clarified that by "how many stages of roadworks have taken place on the M90 from Inverkeithing to Perth over the last five years you required the total number of roadworks that have taken place on the M90 Inverkeithing to Perth motorway over the last five years, in numerical terms.

Response

Transport Scotland's Operating Companies Amey who manage and maintain the north east trunk road network advise the total number of roadworks that have taken place at the requested location is 18 and BEAR Scotland who manage and maintain the south east trunk road network advise the total number of roadworks that have taken place at the requested location is 17.

You also requested details of the cost of these set of roadworks, including the overall cost, during this time.

While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this Transport Scotland does not have the information you have requested.

Transport Scotland does not have the information you have asked for because we are unable to provide costs for specific sections of a trunk road. Therefore I am unable to provide details of the cost of the sets of roadworks, including the overall cost, during this time.

This is a formal notice under section 17(1) of FOISA that the Scottish Government does not have the information you have requested.

This exemption is not subject to the 'public interest test', so we are not required to consider if the public interest in disclosing the information outweighs the public interest in applying the exemption.

I have however provided details for maintenance spend on the M90 Trunk Road for the last five financial years, split by unit.
