Kessock Bridge weight limit: FOI release

You asked for "details of the weight limits on the A9 Kessock Bridge and for the two underpasses on the A9 just north of the Kessock Bridge at North Kessock"

Transport Scotland’s Operating Company, BEAR Scotland, advise there is no weight limit on A9 1350 Kessock bridge nor the adjacent A9 1356 North Kessock Underpass for normal construction and use traffic i.e. heavy goods vehicles of up to 40/44 tonnes.

Vehicles heavier than 40/44 tonnes are classed as abnormal loads. These require advance notice of movement and are considered on a case by case basis. Such loads are individually assessed prior to allowing them to access the bridge, or asking them to seek an alternate route.
