Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002
Information requested
All information held on discussions between Scottish Government officials acting as representatives of the Scottish Government and staff who are members of the LGBT+ Network, acting in that capacity, since 16 April.
Response
For the purposes of this request we are making the following interpretations;
- 'all information' to mean any briefings, notes or correspondence relating to meetings between the groups as defined below
- 'discussions' to mean 'official meetings that have been held between the two parties, SG officials (as defined below) and LGBTI+ Network members (as defined below)
- ‘Scottish Government officials acting as representatives of the Scottish Government’ to mean ‘SG officials representing the SG as an employer’
- ‘staff who are members of the LGBT+ Network’ to mean ‘LGBTI+ network members meeting in their formal network capacity’ rather than all members of the network
- '16 April' to mean '16 April 2025' until the date of your request (5 July 2025)
The meetings below took place within this time period.
1. Catch up between People Directorate and LGBTI+ Network Co-Chairs on 30 April
2. LGBTI+ Listening Circles hosted by DG Corporate and DG Education and Justice on 7 May 2025
3. Diversity and Inclusion Governance Group Voice In and Voice out meetings hosted by People Directorate on 23 April, and the 3 June
4. LGBTI+ Network regular engagement series hosted by People Directorate started on 28 May 2025 and recurring weekly on the 4th, 11th, 18th, and 25th June and the 2nd of July 2025
5. Meeting on moderation sensitivities hosted by ET Ally (DG Education and Justice) on 8 May 2025
Attached is the information we hold in relation to these. Some of the information held was authored by the UK Civil Service who have previously applied Section 35 of the UK FOISA (ministerial communications) to that information. Therefore this information has been withheld under section 28 (1) of the FOISA (Scotland). We recognise the public interest in maintaining transparency however having given due consideration to the material considered for release we consider this to be outweighed by the public interest in maintaining good relations between the UK Government and Scottish Government.
Exemptions under section 38(1) in relation to personal data also applies to some of the information you have requested.
