Gourock to Dunoon passenger ferry services cost: FOI release

Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002.

Information requested

Information provided to the Clyde, Kintyre and Island Ferry Stakeholder Group at the most recent meeting was correct, and if we can provide the latest financial information in terms of route costs provided to Ministers.

Response

Your first question asked if advice provided to the Clyde, Kintyre and Island Ferry Stakeholder Group that the latest financial information in terms of route costs would be included in the Ministerial briefing was correct, noting the FOI response you received in relation to your request for route costs for the financial years to March 2022, 2024, 2024 and 2025.

I can confirm that the information provided on both occasions was correct. Transport Scotland did not hold the requested information by financial year so this could not be provided to you. I note that you have now received this information from CalMac.

Secondly, you asked for the latest financial information in terms of route costs that was provided to Ministers.

The route cost financial information provided to the Minister as part of the decision-making process were an operating deficit of £3.4 million for contractual year 2021-2022, as set out in the Stantec community needs assessment report, and updated information from CalMac for the contractual year 2022-2023 of an operating deficit of just over £3.0 million.
