Briefing packs and other documents in relation to the Scottish Government's strategy for treating long Covid patients.
Response
For the purposes of responding to this request, we have interpreted the terms “briefing packs and other documents in relation to the Scottish Government's strategy for treating long Covid patients” to refer to; briefing packs, submissions, and records of decisions in response to submissions, on the subject of the Scottish Government’s ‘Implementation Support Note on Managing the long-term effects of COVID-19’.
This resource provides information for clinicians and health care teams to support the implementation of the recommendations of the Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network (SIGN) / National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) / Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) guideline ‘managing the long-term effects of COVID-19’. The resource provides information and links to resources to support a consistent national approach to clinical assessment, shared decision making and individualised care planning conversations, including self management and further referral where needed. It is accessible on the Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines SIGN website at
https://www.sign.ac.uk/media/1984/implementation-support-note-managing-the-long-term-effects-ofcovid-19-version-22-300622.pdf
As noted within the resource, it does not replace or supersede the SIGN/NICE/RCGP guideline as the primary source of clinical guidance on managing the long-term effects of COVID-19.
I enclose a copy of most of the information you requested, provided in documents 1-5.
While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance we are unable to provide some of the information you have requested because an exemption under section 38(1)(b) (personal information)] of FOISA applies to that information.
An exemption under section 38(1)(b) of FOISA (personal information) applies to some of the information requested because it is personal data (ie names, contact details) of a third party, and disclosing it would contravene the data protection principles in Article 5(1) of the General Data Protection Regulation and in section 34(1) of the Data Protection Act 2018. This exemption is not subject to the ‘public interest test’, so we are not required to consider if the public interest in disclosing the information outweighs the public interest in applying the exemption.
