First Minister's trip to London documentation: FOI release

Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002.


Information requested

All documentation held by the Scottish Government, including correspondence sent and received, minutes/notes from meetings, briefings, analysis, from John Swinney's trip to London between February 11 and February 16, from the last two months?  Can this include all minutes/notes taken from any engagements done?

Response

I enclose a copy of some of the information you requested. The information is divided into three release annexes: Annex A contains a partial release of collated email correspondence related to the visit; Annex B contains a partial release of the briefing pack prepared for the visit and Annex C contains a partial release of the readouts of engagements undertaken.

While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance we are unable to provide some of the information you have requested because exemptions under sections 38(1)(b) third party personal data; 30(b)(i) free and frank provision of advice; 30(b)(ii) free and frank exchange of views for the purposes of deliberation; 32(1)(a)(ii) relations between the UK and an international organisation; 33(1)(b) substantial prejudice to commercial interests, of FOISA applies to that information. The reasons why these exemptions apply are explained in Annex D.
