Information requested
The total annual cost paid by local authorities per year to maintain the Landlord Register.
Response
The answer to your question is the Local Authorities do not pay any monies towards maintaining the Landlord Register, however, since July 2019, a proportion of the application fee from landlord registration applications helps to fund the maintenance and further improvement of the Landlord Registration IT system.
The proportion is approximately £2.00 from each application towards support costs and approximately £6.00 from each application towards maintenance.
The proportional amount that the applications from each Local Authority provides varies depending on the number of applications each Local Authority receives. The table below shows the approximate amounts for the calendar years of 2024, 2023, and 2022.
