Information requested

1. Confirmation of changes to and the approval process for publication to the 'Police Remedy I’m Retired (When we will contact you)' section of the SPPA website.

2. Since Oct 2022, the amount of complaints/concerns received by SPPA from retired police officers regarding the issue of RSS or lack of information being provided.

Response

1. The SPPA Communication and Engagement Team works with different business areas and functions within the Agency to update the SPPA website on a regular basis to ensure the information it contains reflects key information about the SPPA and its work as accurately as possible to members. This includes updates to the Police Remedy Hub I’m Retired page to improve navigation or to accurately reflect an updated operational position so that pension scheme members are kept informed and updated. As is normal for a Scottish Government agency, Scottish Ministers are updated on wider SPPA business but are not routinely informed of general website updates. Please find a table below showing updates to the Police Remedy Hub from January 2024. You can find out when pages on the SPPA website have last been updated, and view earlier revisions, in the centre left of each page header under 'Revision'.

2. The overview below shows all complaints received directly from retired police members between 1 October 2022 and 5 December 2024 in relation to the issue of Remediable Service Statements (RSS) or lack of information provided regarding RSS. The overview is divided into our different complaint categories: Stage 1 and Stage 2 as well as correspondence received by our Chief Executive. We are unable to provide figures for any concerns raised to SPPA, as these are being recorded as correspondence until formally raised as a complaint.
