Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002.
Information requested
A list of the services (including the "premium-fare services buses") that do not accept the National Entitlement Card. My request is also to ask why the National Entitlement Card is not accepted for these services.
Response
While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance the Scottish Government does not have some of the information you have requested. The reasons why we don’t have the information are explained below.
The Scottish Government does not hold a list of bus operators, or their services, which do not participate in the National Concessionary Travel Schemes (NCTS). Information on why the National Entitlement Card is not accepted on some services, including “premium-fare services”, is outlined in the legislation for the NCTS which is available online at:
- Article 17 (2) of The National Bus Travel Concession Scheme for Young Persons (Scotland) Order 2021.
- Article 5 (2) of The National Bus Travel Concession Scheme for Older and Disabled Persons (Eligible Persons and Eligible Services) (Scotland) Order 2006.
