Breakdown of recorded crimes and offences in Scotland: FOI release

Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002

Information requested

A full breakdown of recorded crimes and offences, and clear up rates, for every SGJD crime code for each year since 2013-14, in the format of Table 1, Table 2 and Table 3 of the tables published at this link https://www.gov.scot/publications/recorded-crime-scotland-2022-23/documents/.

Response

I enclose a copy of all of the information you requested in the format requested.

Note a '-' or dash shows where no crimes were recorded in a particular year. A '.' or dot shows where the recording of a specific crime did not apply in a particular year (for example the Domestic Abuse of Male/Female crime codes, which commenced in 2019/20 following passage of the Domestic Abuse (Scotland) Act 2018). Changes can be made to crime categories and codes, often to reflect the enactment of new legislation passed by either the Scottish or UK Parliaments, which can for example create new criminal offences or amend the existing approach to recording some types of criminal activity. For more information on this process, please see the Recorded Crime Statistics User Guide - User Guide to Recorded Crime: 2022-23 (www.gov.scot).
