Scotland’s International Network Reporting: FOI Release
Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002
Information requested
Under as it was then the Scottish Executive, annual reports were published that detailed the activities of the Scottish Executive European Office (SEEO). The content contained within these annual reports included: events hosted by (SEEO), details of ministerial visits, and the range of activities the SEEO had been engaged in over the year.
After 2004, I have found no such documents that reported on the office's activities since then. Thus, I wish to make a Freedom of Information request for similar data if available, that details the activities of the Scottish Government office in Brussels between the years 2007 – 2020. Such similar data, (possibly in the form of annual reports), should contain a list of events held at the office for that year, details of ministerial visits to Brussels, and activities of the Scottish government office over the course of the year.
Response
We intend to publish our full monitoring and evaluation report for 2022-23, as well as our first Annual report setting out the contribution of our international offices by the end of December 2023.
Each Scottish Government International Office has in recent years submitted a monitoring and evaluation report internally, in order to monitor the offices’ effectiveness; to ensure they are achieving their objectives; and that they provide value for money. Annual reports for the Scottish Government Brussels office covering the period 2018-2022 have been enclosed, which you will find attached.
This represents all of the reports produced in this way. The Scottish Government does not hold records of all office activity in the detail you have requested, going back to 2007. This is a formal notice under section 17(1) of FOISA that the Scottish Government does not have some of the information you have requested.
