Angus Robertson meeting with French think tanks: FOI release

Information requested

All items of information held in relation to the briefing prepared for Constitution Secretary Angus Robertson for his meeting/dinner with French think tanks on 4 October 2022, and all notes and records of this meeting/dinner...This should include all material prepared for Mr Robertson in preparation for the meeting/dinner, including papers, emails and media clippings, and all notes and records of the meeting, including any media recordings and transcripts.

I attach a copy of some of the information you requested in PDF format.

While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance we are unable to provide some of the information because an exemption under section 38(1)(b) (personal information) of FOISA applies to some of the information you have requested. The dinner to which your request relates was organised on the basis of an understanding among participants that they were attending a private dinner under Chatham House rules. To help fulfil your request, the related briefing has been provided at the attached annex. The names of the institutions represented at the dinner have been released in response to your request. There are redactions to information which contains the names of individuals and their personal/professional biographies from which they can be identified. The names of accompanying government officials below Senior Civil Service grade have also been redacted by way of the same exemption.

This exemption is not subject to the 'public interest test', so we are not required to consider if the public
interest in disclosing the information outweighs the public interest in applying the exemption.
