B2 pay grade colleagues working from home in England: FOI release

Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002.

Information requested

How many civil servants above the pay grade of B2 in the Scottish Government have arrangements to work from home where they are based in England?

Response

The Scottish Government (SG) is trialling hybrid working which allows staff to work a combination of working at an SG location and from home. This is on the condition that staff will attend a Scottish Government workplace as required in line with their hybrid working arrangement they have agreed with their line manager.

Hybrid working arrangements vary according to the business requirements of individual roles and are therefore agreed at a local level between employees and their line managers. We do not record the specifics of locally agreed hybrid working arrangements and as such it is not possible to say definitively how many staff based in England are operating a hybrid working arrangement which involves an element of homeworking.

However, in broad terms, we can advise that there are 77 (approx. 0.5% of total SG headcount) employees above the grade of B2 who are based in England who either have or potentially have an arrangement to work from home (e.g. as part of a hybrid working arrangement which involves them working between home and a Scottish Government workplace). This includes staff whose SG contractual place of work is Scotland House in London.
