Scottish government car pool: FOI release

Information requested

1. I wish to request the amount of cars the Scottish Government have at their disposal.

2. I further more request a log into who uses the cars and how often. For example a three month log.

We are able to provide some of the information you have requested, an exemption applies to other aspects of your request.

The Scottish Government currently has a fleet of 201 vehicles.

While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance the costs of locating, retrieving and providing the information requested would exceed the upper cost limit of £600.

Each pool vehicle is managed locally by each operating business area and it is their responsibility to maintain a journey log for each vehicle for designated users. As these records are not held centrally, it would take in excess of £600 to gather, collate and present in an acceptable format.

Under section 12 of FOISA public authorities are not required to comply with a request for information if the authority estimates that the cost of complying would exceed the upper cost limit, which is currently set at £600 by Regulations made under section 12.

You may, however, wish to consider narrowing the scope of your request in order that the costs can be brought below £600. This could be, for example, by reducing the number of vehicles you wish a sample log for.
